The aim of VicRelief Foodbank
food program is to ensure that no Victorian goes hungry no matter
what their personal circumstances. Our ability to distribute food
and grocery products efficiently across the State, to any welfare
agency requiring food resources, is fundamental to our role as a
provider of emergency relief.
The operating effectiveness of this program is largely dependent on
the generous donation of food producers and companies. We
source food which is unsaleable, but still palatable, the subject
of wrong labelling, close to use by date, or a similar
reason.
Although we maintain a
comprehensive range of food products we are constantly looking at
new ways to source a broader selection of
staple food items to supply to those agencies and organizations
where there is a high demand.

Donating Food to
Charities: Food Guide>>
Food
manufacturers and businesses have always generously supported the
efforts of charities. Others have worried about the legal
consequences of doing so. A Food Guide provided by the Victorian
Government explains how the law applies to donating
food.
